2013 Fire Insurance Classification
The Lillington Fire Department underwent a Fire Department Insurance Class Rating in 2013. The evaluation was conducted by the Office of the State Fire Marshall (OSFM) with the NC Department of Insurance. The OSFM conducts inspections throughout the state to determine Fire Department Insurance Class Ratings. These ratings are reflected on the property owner’s insurance policy where real property exists. The class rating determines the insurance premium for a property when protected by the Fire Department having jurisdiction. The ratings are classified as either Split Rates, Straight Rates, or Municipal Rates. Lillington is classified as by a Municipal Rate. These ratings are calculated by evaluating the fire department's equipment & operations, water supply, and communication. Each fire department has the responsibilities of maintaining these requirements as set forth by the North Carolina Department of Insurance to provide fire protection in their respected response districts. The class ratings go from 9 down to 1, meaning 9 being the highest insurance premium, and 1 being the lowest.
The Lillington Fire Department successfully lowered the Insurance Class Rating from 5 to 4. This rating applies to both residential and commercial properties.
